My efforts to spend time in an Ayurveda treatment center didn’t fall flat. The 4 and 5 week programs in Kerala that I REALLY want to go to and immerse myself in are full or not possible with the time I have left to go. But, I found one here in East Delhi that I will go to for 14 days. THIS should be an adventure. I visited yesterday and met with a doctor and looked at accommodations. The room is small but will be nice I think.
I’ll go Monday at 9 AM. Get settled in room and then the routine will begin of oil and herbal treatments 1-3 times a day. They will control my diet completely… no outside food allowed except bottled water. IT WILL BE SO AWESOME! And the rest of the time is mostly spent resting as the treatments bring down your immune system and make your body very… well porous and pliable are the words that come to mind. Then rebuild you back up again. So, they prescribe what you do during your time. What, if any yoga, how far if any walking. And I guess I’ll have to get there to know what else is in store. Many books and much paper is coming with me. I can rent a TV but I think I’m gonna pass on that and take the time to just be. The only chance I may get to do this, best take advantage of it.
I’ll have access to the common computer(s).
Their library is one book shelf of books. Small, but I’ll check it out.
The bland food will be a bit of a change from what I have been eating lately… pretty much the other end of the spectrum.
I’m looking forward to exploring a little. I didn’t see much on my tour because the room I get has the treatment room, the bathroom in it, and the food is delivered to you.
The other options are a room with no AC, a bathroom I think, no extra couch, and you go to common treatment rooms. I would be OK with that, but had some concern about no AC option and potentially no space for Joel to stay if he wants to.
The other option is a bed in a common room with MANY others, common bathroom and common treatment rooms and common eating areas. I got the impression that they don’t really want the foreigners to take this one. No real reason was given but, they assume you have money to pay for better if you are not from here. I’m sure there would be no personal space at all. And this could just be kind of uncomfortable for all of us really. And since LOW stress is the goal, probably best to not take that option.
I’ll take pictures and update the blog as I can to explain this experience better.
Wish me luck!
THIS SHOULD BE FUN STUFF!
